Revolution

There are people that have a problem with the idea of a REVOLUTION in the ABA. Every meeting I go to indivuals stand up and say the most unbiblical junk I've ever heard, and it seems atleast half of those in attendance agree with what was said. I think to myself, "What is wrong with these people?" The crazy thing is that most of them claim to be men of God. We no doubt need a revolution in the churches of the ABA!

To have a problem with change is to suggest that God is pleased and everything is just fine and dandy. A small amount of time in prayer will lead one to understand the need for change! Are pastors and churches praying? Our churches have a form of godliness but are not experiencing the power of God.

To claim that it is the younger generation pushing change is a false premise. There are many older men that see these huge problems and desire to make changes to keep our churches from taking their last breath. Instead of attacking the younger generation you might look at the ages of some of the kings that were placed in power by God. Look at the references to Saul after he became older and arogant with pride compared to his younger days. How old was David when God annointed Him? Young people have a tendancy to trust God more than knowledge they have obtained over a long period of time. Human knowledge and common sense is not what God is looking for. He is looking for humility and faith. Its time we start listening to God instead of other voices and even our heritage!

NO ONE IS SUGGESTING CHANGING ANYTHING ABOUT THE BIBLE SO DONT MAKE THAT THE ISSUE!

hey Billy, It is really non-sensical the way that some things are going down. This has probably been the worst year for associated mission work in our country that I can remember.

The ABA salary fund has been down almost 40,000 a month since June.

The most influential and revolutionary mission group in our work over the last 30 years was practically destroyed over not recognizing "church authority" even though they submitted to church authority by getting a new sponsoring church in the ABA within days.

A seasoned experienced older gentlemen that is doctrinally sound and does tons to help our associated work was rejected by half the state of Texas...why? because he used the term "church planting" and made "plans" to do church planting before he told his church.

In our entire work since June there has only been 2 new missions or church plants started in all the United States.

The dollar has fallen so much that missionaries are coming home left and right to drum up their support, having to leave their fields because we aren't educated enough to realize that there are exchange rates and economics do matter in mission work.

I am not leaving our work but it is so discouraging :-( If I didn't believe in the doctrines and teachings of the ABA there is no way I would still be a part of it. And yet that is the very thing that most people accuse people like me of....not being a real Landmarker...if they only knew :-(

Billy, I concur. Good thoughts. We are in need of change. It will not happen from the top down. I am growing more convinced that it is going to have to be grassroots, led by men who are considered nobodies in our work.

Jonathon, interesting thing about our state meeting. I agree, and several others said it was the worst in years. Last week one of our members told me that several pastors told him it was the best meeting they had attended in years.

What do you make of that?

I'm convinced it has to start at home and work its way into the associational level. Our churches must become example churches and then people will listen! What will it take to become those example churches? Nobodies who are completely dependant upon God and willing to do what He says no matter the cost!

Hey Guys, I am in agreement with everyone's thinking here.
Too many of our people have been unaware of what is going on across the country regarding our stagnation and decline. If our pastors would says something about it in their pulpits it might help turn some of this around. But many of them are asleep or unwilling to 'make waves'.
We do need pastors and churches who will model what needs to be done. There are a few who are trying. We need to build on that.
To my knowledge only 5 new works have been started since July 1 09. This is very troubling.
What will we do to change it? Give me some action items that we can work on and accomplish it!
